The V88 was designed in the 80s to provide the defined, bold voice required by the genre-making guitarists of the era. It is designed to be noise-free with equal coil windings and full internal brass shielding. The SB88 is its classic P90 shape soapbar sister. The design provides balance across the strings to keep the bass strings clear and strong. They are sealed to prevent coil contamination from dust and sweat while also eliminating microphonics – perfect for the stage or studio.
Usually, the SB88-C is installed in the neck position for brilliant treble and maximum midrange emphasis (near 12th fret of high E string) for excellent sustain. SB88-C is also very usable as a bright bridge pickup. The SB88-D is designed for power and sustain in the bridge position while retaining excellent balance and definition. Output level is 25% higher than SB88-C.
