Stephen “Tep” Lachica is a professional session bassist from the Philippines.
He started playing bass at church during his high school days, greatly influenced by the music from Ron Kenoly and
Israel & New Breed. Playing the bass eventually led him to learn to play drums, guitar and piano. He was also already
into arranging music during that time, creating arrangements and transitions for praise & worship.
Tep began playing professionally in 2012. From home/studio recordings up to doing local gigs, concerts, TV shows and
international tours, Tep is a very versatile bass player, covering wide range of genres, with Gospel, RnB, Bossa Nova, Pop
& Funk as his specialty.
As one of the session bass players in PH, he has worked with various artists in the Philippines such as Acel Bisa, Barbie
Almalbis, Aia De Leon, Richard Poon, OPM legends like Martin Nievera, Marco Sison, actors/singers like Ian Veneracion,
Belle Mariano and Daniel Padilla. His most prominent performances are with Sitti Navarro, Ogie Alcasid, Khel
Pangilinan and BINI.
Tep has also played for other notable artists such as Jona Viray, Nina, Katrina Velarde, Sheryn Regis, Jaya, Janine
Teñoso, Angeline Quinto, Daryl Ong, and many more.
Tep also plays for local entertainment TV shows in the Philippines such as VIBE, ASAP, and It’s Showtime. He is also
one of the artists of Elegee Custom Guitars.
Aside from playing bass, Tep is an educator for bass and music, facilitating music workshops and masterclasses online
and on different places across the country, sharing his experiences and expertise on his craft. He is also into arranging
songs, and music production via Logic Pro and Cakewalk. Tep is well-versed in English, with Tagalog as his native
language, and is up for remote collaborations both local and international.
