Designed in the mid ‘70s, the 1C is our first dual coil humbucker. It has unequal windings between the coils with very warm tone, excellent treble response and very low noise and hum. The aperture is 40% wider than conventional humbuckers for warm, full lows. The unequal coil design provides more clarity in dual coil modes, and more tonal differences in single coil modes. It can be wired in series, parallel, single coils, or out-of-phase.
The 1C works equally well as a neck or bridge humbucker and is often installed as pairs with the neck pickup wired in parallel and the bridge pickup wired in series. They are available in white or black and include #4-40 mounting screws.
